Arye Sharuz Shalicar, born on August 13, 1977, in Göttingen, is a political scientist, writer, and government official with German-Iranian-Israeli roots. His career includes an early stint as a graffiti artist and hip-hop musician, followed by academic pursuits in political science and Jewish studies.

After moving to Israel in 2001, Shalicar continued his political trajectory, notably in the spokesperson unit of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). Following the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, he returned to active duty from the reserves.

He has authored several books, including his autobiography “A Wet Dog is Better Than a Dry Jew,” and occasionally writes articles for German and international media. Shalicar resides with his family near Jerusalem.
