Dr. Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann, a native of Düsseldorf, studied journalism, politics, and German studies at LMU in Munich, where she also earned her Doctor of Philosophy degree. She then worked for over 20 years as a publishing representative in sales for the youth book publisher Tessloff.

From 2008 to 2014, she served as the First Mayor of the state capital, Düsseldorf. She was a councilwoman from 2004 to 2023 and served as the Deputy Chairperson of the FDP (Free Democratic Party) from 2013 to 2019. Since 2017, Strack-Zimmermann has been a member of the Bundestag. From 2017 to 2021, she was the spokesperson for local and defense policy of the FDP parliamentary group and has been a member of the FDP federal executive board since 2019, as well as returning to the FDP presidency in 2023. Since 2021, she has been the chairwoman of the Defense Committee.
